When Anthony first approached us he was so nervous and scared that it was almost impossible to have a conversation with him. He wanted to learn woodwork and the classes we were running with their small sizes seemed ideal for him. During those first six weeks with us, he often caused concern. He was easily confused and would forget whether he had signed out when he left and end up coming back just to check that he had signed out. He would walk backwards and forwards across the road outside the building until a member of staff would go out to help him. After the course finished Anthony continued with us, helping out in the woodwork, restoring and repairing furniture. Two years later and Anthony is still with us, a valued member of the team, not only helping out in the woodwork but also in the warehouse. He is confident and able to engage in conversation, laughing and joking with other team members. It’s great to see such a change in someone, although every now and then we see the old Anthony, popping his head back round the door after he has left asking ‘have I signed out?’
